Avoiding discomfort can feel like self-protection, but it often stores the problem rather than resolving it. Spiritual bypass, distraction, repression, and forced positivity can leave emotional material to return later as resentment, shutdown, compulsive behavior, anxiety, or disproportionate outbursts. Moving through an experience does not require melodrama or endless rumination. It requires honest contact with reality, enough regulation to stay present, reflection that clarifies what is happening, and action that integrates the lesson.
